Meyer Secures Age Group Victory at 2023 Swim Across the Bay

We at Triple Victor are excited to bring attention to the dedicated effort of our athlete, Margaret Meyer, at the 2023 Swim Across the Bay held in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Against the backdrop of Henderson Point, Margaret secured a solid victory in the female 65-69 age group, finishing the choppy 2-mile point-to-point swim in 1 hour and 21 minutes and leading her nearest age-group competitor by a substantial 22 minutes.

The 2023 Swim Across the Bay

Founded in 2017 and presently stewarded by the Bay St. Louis Running Company, the Swim Across the Bay has fostered a community of swimmers who return year after year to challenge themselves in the picturesque waters of Bay St. Louis. The 2023 edition of the event, held on September 17, introduced chip timing, enhancing the competitive spirit by allowing for self-seeding at the start, precise individual timing, and quicker result tabulation.

Margaret’s Journey

Amid her rigorous preparation for the forthcoming IRONMAN California race in Sacramento, scheduled for October 22, 2023, Margaret chose to partake in this local community event. The race served as a refreshing interval in her training phase, providing a setting to apply her training while enjoying a spirited competition with fellow swimmers.

The swim kicked off from the Henderson Point Boat Launch, leading swimmers on a straight path across the bay to the Bay St. Louis Municipal Harbor pier. Margaret, exhibiting her training-honed stamina and enthusiasm, navigated the waters with a steady pace, making her Triple Victor family proud with her performance.

A Sense of Community

Over 100 swimmers converged on the bay for a friendly competition, cheered on and guided by a band of volunteer kayakers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable race experience for all participants. The race united swimmers of various age groups, including a remarkable performance by 16-year-old Nicolas Aldana Huelga, who emerged as the first to cross the finish line, completing the race in 42 minutes and six seconds.

Towards New Horizons

As Margaret strides into the final stages of her training for the challenging IRONMAN California, her performance at the Swim Across the Bay stands as a quiet testimony to her disciplined training regimen and determination.

Join us in congratulating Margaret for her victorious swim at the Bay St. Louis. This is a gentle reminder of the dedication and joy that local races can bring, adding zest to the daily training routine while fostering community spirit and camaraderie.

Stay tuned for more updates as we eagerly anticipate Margaret’s performance in Sacramento, standing by her as she continues to showcase her passion and dedication in the sporting arena. Every milestone, big or small, is a step forward, and we are here to celebrate them all with the Triple Victor spirit.
