Celebrating the Trailblazing Spirit of Jessica Pekari
I am overjoyed to share a monumental milestone from one of our OG members — the inimitable Jessica Pekari! She has blazed a historic trail, setting a new Fastest Known Time (FKT) for an unsupported journey down the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) — a remarkable 63 days, breaking the previous 64-day record established by Scott Williamson in 2011.
If you aren’t already following Jessica, now is the time! Keep an eye out for the Triple Victor visor gracing her run photos, a nod to her foundational days with our team in the era of all-triathlon, all the time.
Jessica’s journey intertwined with ours in 2016, vividly starting at our team house in Mooloolaba, Australia, bonding over discussions on bar tape, followed by insightful questions about racing and training. This genuine curiosity blossomed into a coaching relationship in 2017 as she aimed to qualify for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships after an ultrarunning hiatus.
Despite the tight timeframe before the qualification race, Jessica’s unyielding spirit and incredible running base became our strength. After a surge of hard work, she secured her spot to the 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. Yet, as the race season coincided with the school year kickoff, Jessica pivoted her focus solely on ultrarunning, propelling her to iconic victories, including clinching the 2018 Moab 240 title and setting the Triple Crown of 200s course record in the women’s category en route to winning the 2018 Triple Crown of 200s.
Her transition to an ultrarunning team in the spring of 2018 didn’t sever ties; the Triple Victor visor remained her companion, symbolizing a bond unbroken. Watching Jessica grow and being her fervent supporter has been a privilege. Moreover, our collaboration during those triathlon and ultra-running days leading up to the 2018 season has been a boon to the ultrarunners I coach today. Jessica paved the way for ultra-runners joining our ranks at Triple Victor.
Today, we find ourselves holding our breath, eagerly awaiting the official stamp on her most recent awe-inspiring achievement — an FKT borne out of determination, overcoming hurdles, including her first attempt being cut short due to pandemic restrictions and wildfires.
Jessica embodies a spirit unyielded, juggling roles with grace — a trailblazer, a veteran, an author, a dedicated teacher, a loving mother, and a devoted wife. Her story, marked by tenacity and resilience, stands as a beacon of inspiration to all.
Join us in showering Jessica with hearty congratulations as we celebrate this monumental milestone. You can find Jessica Pekari on Facebook and Instagram. To learn more about Jessica’s first attempt and journey read her book Bombs to Trails available on Amazon.
